Veggiebun’s Food Trail
Food, food, and more food…Archive for buffet
Buffet @ Azur, Crowne Plaza
Value for $ buffet. 50% off for two persons. The total bill is only $54.14.
The following photos are what I ate. Haha. Yes, all of them.
Buffet breakfast
Here’s what I ate during my one night stay in Kuala Lumpur Traders Hotel.
Plain porridge with yew char kway, preserved veg and spring onions. Tasty!!! I love spring onions and yew char kway.
Cereal and croissant. Nice too.. love the crunhcy almonds and chocolate cereal.
Baked tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, scrambled eggs, hash brown, and vanilla twist pastry. All are very nice!!!
Lotus Vegetarian buffet
Actually these photos were taken quite a while ago so I couldn’t recall how most of the food tasted like because they didn’t leave a deep impression on me. Except… the mock duck rice. Hehehe.. It is so delicious that I could still remember how it tasted like.
Asian Vegetarian Buffet
We went to the Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant at the Quality Hotel last night. Here are the yummy photos.
This is what I started with. Penang fried kway teow, mutton curry, fried rice, steamed prawns, tofu, etc. Hehe.. all are very nice.
~~
Chicken rice. The rice is so fragrant. Really nice!
Dim sum. When I tried this, I actually thought, “Maybe they did mix in some pork!” Haha.. they are really nice (except the two yellow ones at the centre because the skin is too thick).
Dim sum. Carrot cake and yam pastry. Both are very nice!
Gado-gado. Actually, I haven’t tried the non-veg version gado-gado before, so I can’t really judge this. But, from the taste factor, I don’t like it. Maybe because I put too much sambal chili and it made the whole dish really salty.
Lok-lok. Very nice indeed. Just like real lok-lok. Mock prawns, fish balls, meat balls… even with similar sauces!
Top: Honeyed fried burdock – This is my favourite among everything I tried in the buffet spread. Actually I have no idea what that is. In Chinese, it is called 牛膀. Sushi – So-so. Fish slice Haha.. this restaurant really tries to make their food like what you would find in usual Asian buffets. Too bad, this “mock sashimi” is really not the same at all!
More fried burdock and Yusheng. Hehe.. 卖飞佛 (I learnt this from HK shows
).
Mushroom cream soup. Yummy..

Clockwise from top: Salad - quite nice. Fried seaweed??? (I don’t know what that is)-chewy texture. I think there’s some needle mushrooms inside. Crystal buns – wrapped in green plastic and also bamboo leaves. Both are the same thing with different look. Looked good but it’s really weird. I feel like I am eating an eraser. Yucks! Chicken leg mushrooms – It has herbal taste and is quite nice. But, I really wonder why they are called chicken leg mushrooms??? Beans with abalone mushrooms. This is very nice!
Braised duck in steamed bun. This one is very nice! Actually I was already quite full but I saw someone from the next table eating this so I had to try as well. This is only served when requested to make sure that the bun is steamed till is soft. Heavenly…
Cookie & pastry. Nice, but not particularly impressed with them though.
Cendol. Silly me.. I didn’t notice that there’s shaven ice by the side. No wonder the cendol tasted “too creamy” initially. And I even wondered why… Hahaha…
More cendol! This time with strawberry ice-cream. Haha… Never too full for more desserts.
Total: Only $44.95 for two persons. This buffet is really very nice. It has such a big variety. In fact, I haven’t even tried their three other types of soups, jelly desserts and many dishes and dim sums. It’s definitely worth is since there’s free-flow or various types of soft drinks too.
