Vegetarian stall at Bukit Batok

Hehe.. sorry, I can’t remember what is the shop’s name and neither do my friend who recommended this vegetarian stall to me.

This yam ring is quite nice and would have been better if it is saltier.

Asam fish. Seems like something’s missing but I can’t tell what. It’s sour enough but stilll something is missing..

Mai Zhi Su (BB)

Mock pork with mui choy. This was ordered by my husband and it arrived first. It was very nice until my asam fish rice arrived!

Asam fish rice. From the slightly raw long beans, cripsy mock fish (really taste like real fried fish) till the asam sauce…everything is perfect!

Guess where these are from?

After constant accusation from Dreamy that I have abandoned my beloved Vegetarian Health Food restaurant, I decided to go there again. (Haha.. just joking. It was because I miss the asam fish)

Vegetarian “mutton” bryani. This is very good too. Do give it a try. I think they always maintained their high standards. ;)

My favourite asam fish (comes with white rice and popadam).

Hehe.. How can I possibly not order the world’s best vegetarian char siew, rite? :P ($3 for two piece of char siew)

Yummy "fish" meal…

Hehe… here I am at my favourite restaurant (Vegetarian Health Food) again! Both of the asam fish and sambal fish sets are very, very delicious. Looking at these pictures now, I can helped being reminded me of the flavourful gravy of the asam (mock) fish and fragrant sambal (mock) fish.

Asam “fish”
The taste is just right. Not too sweet, not too sour. The spices and tangy lemon grass smell so good… Yummy!!! Hehehe.. While writing this, I am already thinking about when I can eat this again!

Sambal “fish”

The slices of mock fish with sambal are wrapped in banana leave and grilled so well that the mock fish is still moist while the leave is slightly charred. Although the color of the sambal and asam fish gravy looked similar, they are different in taste. This shows that the cook really took the effort to make different sauces for different dishes.

VHF is really a good restaurant because it has a big variety of local dishes (seldom found at other restaurants) at affordable price. The total for both meal sets is only $9.20. Value for money, indeed. Haha… I sounded like I am hired to promote them… (rest assured, I am not).
