8 Treasures Vegetarian

Was invited by 8 Treasures Vegetarian restaurant for a meal to celebrate the World Vegetarian Day on Oct 1, 2009. Haha.. But didn’t have time to update my blog until now. Here’s what we had on that memorable night.

Mini Pot Vegetarian Sharks' Fin

Mini Pot Vegetarian Sharks' Fin

Best eaten as it is (without adding black vinegar).  Liked the thick broth very much.

Honey Sauce Mock Pork (L) & Broccoli with Vegetarian Scallops (R)

Honey Sauce Mock Pork (L) & Broccoli with Vegetarian Scallops (R)

Loved the mock pork so much that I wished that we had more even though it was nothing like the Dong Bo Rou (meat dish) that it was named after. The sweet and saltish mock pork was chewy and springy intead. This would be one of the mock meat dish that I would order again. ;)  The broccoli stir fry was OK because I found that the mock scallops were quite unnecessary.

Asparagus with Monkey Head Mushroom, Marmite Willow Mushrooms & Vegetarian Fragrant Peking Duck

Asparagus with Monkey Head Mushroom, Marmite Willow Mushrooms & Vegetarian Fragrant Peking Duck

Cripy fried willow mushroom coated with sweet and salty Marmite sauce! Who could have thought that Marmite could make mushrooms taste so good??!! Wow!! :P ~~~  The two dishes were quite normal though…

Nyonya Style Mock Fish

Nyonya Style Mock Fish

Hmmm… a little too sour for my liking and I didn’t like the mock fish.

Eight Treasures Beancurd (L) & Crispy Vegetarian Chicken with Fresh Fruit Salad

Eight Treasures Beancurd (L) & Crispy Vegetarian Chicken with Fresh Fruit Salad

Oh, beancurd with special olive sauce! I liked it very much as it is different from usual Chinese food. True to its name the crispy vegetarian chicken is really crispy but I can’t really remember how it tasted like now. Haha..

White Fungus Soup

Time for some dessert! This wasn’t sweet enough.

Honey Dew and Strawberry Sago

Honey Dew and Strawberry Sago

Oooh.. I love this.. sago dessert with ice-cream as well. Hehe.. actually I love anything with sago in it. :D

BTW, i managed to find the veg stall that your husband mentioned (near the Jurong East Swimming Pool), but i went at the wrong timing, they were washing up and close for the day.

Thanks your husband for the direction … : )

Cheers : )

nancy, i uploaded the pics using Internet Explorer (PC) instead of using the iphone app. That’s why can set the captions before the pics. It is one of the built-in features available in WordPress.

JL, yeah, I consider yeast as vegetarian :P Isn’t it??

crystal, oh, I was busy so didn’t have time to post earlier. Haha.. ever since that meeting, we had “fish head” curry there thrice.. Do remember to try that. Btw, I think they are closed on Mondays too.

oh it is indeed vegetarian, and apparently vegan too…

And I think that’s where vegans obtain their vitamin B12. (not sure abt this too)
