Hi. FYI,If you are a strict vegetarian then Mac’s fries and harsh brown is not for vegetarian.:)

  VegB wrote @

You mean they use the same vegetable oil for the meat stuff too am I right?

  Anonymous wrote @

no, I think is because they add a type of ingredient (beef content) to make the fries and harsh brown. Not because of using the oil. If you go to their US website(if i remember correctly), you will be able to see the ingredient for fries and harsh brown.

you can see that there is a natural beef flavour in the ingredient.

Here is another website which reports about the “beef extract” in the fries.

Thanks for the info!
How abt those hash brown sold in frozen packs in supermarkets? I find that they taste similar too

  Anonymous wrote @

must see the ingredient, some has onion or garlic powder (I think). I only find 1 type of harsh brown sold in supermkt which is suitable. I think it comes in 20 pcs contain in half size box, covered with plastic.

  Anonymous wrote @

maybe you can let other vegetarians know about that too because I am sure we all think Mac’s fries and harsh brown are suitable for vegetarian. Thanks.

is like some cheese can’t be eaten because there is rennet in it (also beef extract)

  Anonymous wrote @

even those soft candy normally can’t be eaten because of the gluten (also beef extract)

  Anonymous wrote @

sorry should be gelatin and not gluten.

Not only vegetarian. The Hindus, they do not eat beef too!

Therefore, it is time for those eateries / Mac using cheese or anything (with beef content) to really opt for Vegetarian option, because, not only we veg*n can’t consume, there are many Chinese non-veg do not consume beef (family traditional or belief) and the Hindus too. Die lor…

Candy, I would have to check the ingredients properly. Sigh! lucky my son don’t eat sweet that much.

Thanks for the info : )

Cheers : )

And by the way can anyone verify that SG’s fries and hashbrowns are seasoned with need extract as well?Hindus and many non-vegetarian Buddhists does not eat beef as well.

  VegB wrote @

Oh yes as I know gelatine may be from pig bones as well so not all gelatine are halal. Muslims have to be careful with sweets as well
